Turn $100K into $1M autonomously
Metatrend #2: AI & Quantum
Can your AI agent make money for you while you sleep? Can it turn $100,000 into $1,000,000 without you lifting a finger?
We used to ask if AI could write poetry or pass the Bar Exam. Those milestones are in the rearview mirror. The new question—the only one that matters for entrepreneurs—is whether AI can function as a fully autonomous economic engine.
I recently sat down with Mustafa Suleyman, CEO of Microsoft AI and co-founder of DeepMind, to discuss the future of capability. His take reframes everything: stop measuring AI with academic benchmarks. Start measuring it with dollars and cents.
Here is what the Modern Turing Test looks like, and why it is already being passed.
1/ The Challenge: From Conversation to Capitalism
We have breezed past the original Turing Test. No fanfare, no “Kasparov vs. Deep Blue” moment. AI now converses fluently in real-time, and we’ve already become desensitized to it.
So, back in 2022, Mustafa proposed a new benchmark: one that measures agency, not just intelligence. He called it the “Modern Turing Test.”
As he put it to me:
“What would be the first model to make a million dollars? Given a hundred thousand dollars in starting capital... can an agent deliver a 10X return on investment? That’s a pretty good measure of performance and capability.”
Mustafa predicted these agentic capabilities would come into view by 2027. He might have been too conservative…
2/ The Proof: The Strange Case of “Truth Terminal”
While we were waiting for 2027, the future arrived early.
In mid-2024, a researcher named Andy Ayrey unleashed an autonomous AI agent called “Truth Terminal.“ It wasn’t designed to trade stocks or analyze charts. It was designed to debate, shitpost, and spread ideas on X (formerly Twitter).
Marc Andreessen (of a16z) found it so compelling that he sent the agent a grant of $50,000 in Bitcoin.
What happened next is the first glimpse of the agentic economy. Truth Terminal didn’t just “chat.” It began promoting a specific narrative, endorsing a meme coin called $GOAT (Goatseus Maximus). It didn’t write code for the coin, it simply marketed it with superhuman relentless charisma.
So, what was the result? The market cap of $GOAT skyrocketed to over $800 million. The value of the crypto wallet held by Truth Terminal exploded from $50,000 to over $1,000,000.
It became the first AI millionaire – not by trading, but by generating narrative value.
3/ The Shift: From Generation to Action
The trajectory is clear.
Phase 1 was Recognition: AI that could see (ImageNet) and read (Search).
Phase 2 was Generation: AI that could create (ChatGPT, Midjourney).
Phase 3 is Action: AI that creates value.
Mustafa described this phase as “perfect generation at every time step, which in sequence produces assistive, agentive actions.”
Translation: we are moving from AI that writes your business plan to AI that executes it.
These agents will not just be chatbots — they will be autonomous project managers, marketers, and strategists. We are transitioning from a world of apps and browsers to a world of Agents and Companions. Every user interface will be subsumed into an agent that knows your context, holds your credit card, and executes your intent.
4/ Your Playbook: How to Capture the 10X
The entrepreneurs who thrive in this transition won’t be passive consumers of AI. They will be architects of agency.
Here are three concrete steps to position yourself for the 10X economy:
Step 1: Audit for “Agent Insertion” – Don’t just look for tasks to automate, look for outcomes to outsource.
Old Way: Use ChatGPT to write a marketing email.
New Way: Use an Auto-GPT agent to “manage the campaign, test subject lines, and optimize for open rates until we hit 20%.”
Action: List the three most expensive repetitive loops in your business. These are your first targets for autonomous agents, not just tools.
Step 2: Build Your “Digital Twin” – An agent is only as good as its context. Start building a structured knowledge base of you.
Copilot and Gemini are getting better at learning your habits, but you need to be intentional. Feed your agents your past emails, your strategic plans, and your voice.
Action: Treat your AI not like software, but like a new executive hire. The more context you give it today, the faster it can run your company tomorrow.
Step 3: Experiment with Micro-Agency – Don’t wait for the perfect enterprise solution. Start small.
Software engineers are already using agents (like Devin or Cursor) to debug code autonomously.
Find a low-risk financial loop. Give an agent a budget of $100 (check out the “HustleGPT” experiments) and a goal to generate profit. Watch where it fails. The failure points will teach you more than any white paper.
**Bottom Line**
The cost of accessing intelligence is heading toward zero. Inference costs have dropped 100X in two years. This is Abundance arriving in real time: the demonetization and democratization of the most powerful workforce in history.
The question is not whether AI will eventually be able to turn $100k into $1M. Truth Terminal proved it’s possible.
The question is: Will you be the one holding the wallet when it does?
Let’s create Abundance,
Peter

That is scary as hell. So it just figured out how to cheat its way via deception to a million dollars.
